Lady Like

I have always admired the women in my family, all of whom quietly carry the responsibilities that hold our family together. As I've grown older, I've begun to see how limiting these roles can be. My mother has shared the weight of making dinner every night and managing our household with me. As my grandmother has needed more care, my family and I have gradually taken on many of her responsibilities. Yet even as women hold families together, they often have little control over their own lives. The overturning of Roe v. Wade is one reminder of that reality. Inspired by Domestic Work by Natasha Trethewey, I created *Lady Like* to explore this tension and define what womanhood means to me.
