the Anatomy of a disease

Artist Statement
In the summer of 2017, my grandmother was diagnosed with dementia. In a matter of weeks, my family went from being cared for by her to caring for her. This collection reflects on disease, family, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. Dementia reshaped our lives, but it also taught me that love is found in everyday acts of care. Through these photographs, I wanted to preserve the ordinary moments that became extraordinary because they were shared with her. My grandmother is the most beautiful person I know, and I still see that same woman in these images. By documenting these moments, I honor her while reflecting on the reality of disease and what it truly means to care for the people we love.
