WhatTimeIsIt?
Colored Pencil on Paper•2022

Artist Statement
Time becomes both elusive and omnipresent when memory begins to fade. This portrait captures the quiet dignity of an elder surrounded by swirling clock numbers, a meditation on how dementia alters our relationship with time. The detailed rendering honors the subject's life and presence while the ethereal numbers speak to the confusion and disorientation that accompanies cognitive decline. It asks us to consider: what does time mean when we can no longer grasp it?
